Student Organized Community Event
{ Lun - ger } - rhymes with hunger
Langar@成人AV is a student-led event hosted alongside the Colorado Sikhs on June 3rd that promotes community and inclusivity by providing free meals, yard games, and music. We aim to foster equality and selfless service while encouraging students to engage with community outreach and social responsibility.

Guidelines For Interacting With Disabled People
- Focus on the person, not their disabilities.
- Do not infantilize a person with a disability. Treat them as you would anyone else.
- Speak directly to the individual, not the interpreter, companion, or attendant.
- Listen carefully, wait to reply until you are certain the individual has finished speaking.
- Use the correct words: Say 鈥渄isability.鈥 Do not say 鈥渉andicapped, special needs, or differently-abled.鈥
- Do NOT use derogatory words such as 鈥渕idget,鈥 or 鈥渃rippled鈥 or terms like 鈥渧ictim of,鈥 鈥渟uffers from.鈥
- Do not touch or interact with a service animal without permission.
- Do not assume a person needs assistance. Wait to be asked before offering help. Ex: Do not start pushing a person鈥檚 wheelchair without permission as many consider it an extension of their physical being.
- Be sensitive about personal contact and space. Do not touch or move a person鈥檚 mobility or other devices without permission.
- Respect an individual鈥檚 privacy regarding their disability, unless they initiate a conversation. Do not ask intrusive and inappropriate questions such as 鈥淲hat is wrong with you?鈥 or 鈥淗ow do you use the restroom?鈥
- Introduce yourself and say when you are leaving if interacting with a person who is blind.
- Make sure there is a clear view of your face and mouth when communicating, especially for people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.

Langar@成人AV: A student organized community event
鈥淢y experience in this class has been very unique and special seeing all of the different people come together for a common cause/values. The inclusive and welcoming environment we have been able to create is truly amazing."
