Rep. DeGette Discusses Immigration Reform at ³ÉÈËAV

Colorado Congresswoman DianaÌýDeGette visited the ³ÉÈËAV campus Wednesday morning to discuss immigration reform. The event was organized byÌý, a bipartisan group started by leaders in the tech and business communitiesÌýto promote policies to keep the United States and its citizens competitive in a global economy. TheÌýÌýhosted the meeting on theÌý.
Business leaders from several Colorado companies — including Western Union, Colorado Farm Bureau, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Green Valley Ranch Golf Club — participated in the Colorado Business Roundtable. It was an opportunity for business leaders to discuss with Rep. DeGette the legislation they believe would strengthen the economy and allow businesses to grow and thrive in Colorado. JB Holston, dean of the Ritchie School, discussed the impact of recent immigration policies on the University.

The organization is calling for securing U.S. borders, modernizing the visa system and providing a pathway to citizenship for 11 million undocumented people. Approximately one in 10ÌýColoradans are immigrants, and immigrant-owned businesses in the state generate $1.2 billion in annual income.
